The event encouraged the learners to think differently about waste and inspired them to embrace greener, more sustainable choices for the future.
The models proudly showcased their dresses, suits and other fashion creations they had designed from recyclable items.
The programme was co-ordinated by Constable Mona Slinger of the Thembalethu Police, who has turned the initiative into an annual project, stemming from her passion for empowering young people.
She was supported by several role players, including the police, CPFs, Sahara, George Municipality, Garden Route District Municipality, Reflekt, the Department of Basic Education, Polyco, Henque Waste, Planet Youth and Inkcubeko.

The learners thoroughly enjoyed their moment in the spotlight, many saying they wished they had more time on stage to show off their unique creations.
Inkcubeko also kept the audience entertained with interactive science experiments that had learners jump to their feet as chemistry quite literally came to life with a bang.
Speaking at the event, the George Business Chamber's chairperson, Judy Westraad, encouraged everyone to take responsibility for their waste. "Nowadays, there is always someone you can ask what you can do with your rubbish. There is no excuse not to recycle," she said.
