GEORGE NEWS & VIDEO - A man miraculously escaped with his life after he was hit by a runaway bakkie at Victoria Bay on Friday 13 November.
On CCTV footage making the rounds on social media, a white Isuzu bakkie, clearly out of control, can be seen coming down the hill in the parking lot at Victoria Bay in the direction of the shop area.
It collides with another vehicle on its way down, narrowly misses the gate and hits a pedestrian before it comes to a stop on the lawn near the shop.
The pedestrian lands on top of the bakkie's bonnet, falls off, ends up underneath the bakkie and gets dragged across the lawn for metres before the bakkie stops. According to unconfirmed reports the bakkie had incurred mechanical problems causing the breaks to fail.

It has come to George Herald's attention that some residents of George are of the opinion that incidents of this nature, or the severity thereof, would be limited if the mound that was removed in July to create a walkway to the beach, had still been there.
"The mound was placed there for several reasons not always obvious to the general public. Over the decades it has ensured that vehicles out of control use it as a last resort. The removal of the mound could have resulted in the possible death of an innocent beachgoer," one of the residents said.
According to Southern Cape police spokesperson, Sgt Chris Spies, the pedestrian sustained moderate injuries. "He was transported to hospital and was discharged later that Friday afternoon," he said.
