GARDEN ROUTE | KAROO NEWS - After more than 16 years at the forefront of innovation and growth at Group Editors, Nicole Rimbault, nee Moolman, has decided to pursue new opportunities and ventures in keeping with her love and passion for her community.
In order to fulfil her goals, Nicole recently informed the Group Editors Board of her decision to resign as Executive Director of GE Packhouse, as well as Board Member, effective end of December 2024.
Nicole joined Group Editors Company in 2008 as Operations Director before taking on the role of CEO. Under her leadership, the company expanded its presence as a multimedia organisation, implementing a strong digital strategy.
Notable achievements during Nicole’s tenure include:
- Passionate about growing local business, Nicole spearheaded various initiatives and Group Editors was one of the first local media houses to launch websites for all six of its print publications and accompanying social media channels, ensuring the company’s brands maintain a leading position among local media in South Africa.
- In addition to her duties as CEO of Group Editors, Nicole played a key role as Head of Digital of Caxton, overseeing the national digital strategy for several years.
- Nicole guided Group Editors Company through the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic, ensuring the business remained stable despite the difficulties faced by the print industry.
- Nicole is passionate about community and has launched many Group Editors charitable initiatives. In 2013 her dedication to the community was recognised with the Paul Harris Award - one of the highest accolades bestowed by Rotary on individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to their community.
- On top of her contributions to local business, schools, the community and media, Nicole oversaw the diversification of Group Editors Company with the development of GE Packhouse, a commercial facility offering fruit-packing (avocado and kiwi) services to growers in the George region.
Nicole firmly believes that community journalism will remain incredibly relevant in supplying hyper-local news that can be trusted.
Looking back
Nicole looks back at her tenure at Group Editors with fond memories. “It has been one of the greatest privileges of my life to work with and lead the dedicated team of employees at Group Editors, both in the media division and the packhouse division. I will be forever thankful for working alongside my father Peter, who with his brother Terry, created the backbone of this business and gave me wonderful opportunities in both my personal and professional life. My dad has given me the strength to know that I have more to offer communities and allowed me the opportunities to spread my wings and continue to fly.”
While Nicole’s colleagues will miss her very much, they can rest assured in the knowledge that she will continue to shine in this new chapter of her life.
Will be missed
Production Manager Deon Joubert says Nicole brought renewal to Group Editors. “Her vision saw us make huge inroads into the digital market. It was a pleasure to be part of her transformation and great to have worked with her. I am sure her future ventures will go from strength to strength.”
Former Mossel Bay editor, Group Editor Suzette Herrer, has known Nicole most of her life. “Nicole has been a part of my life since she was a little girl, visiting on weekends with her boundless energy and warmth. Over the years, she has grown into a remarkable businesswoman whose dedication and vision have inspired everyone around her. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her impact will be cherished forever.”
George Herald Editor Lizette da Silva says it was a privilege to work alongside Nicole. “Nicole, your mentorship has been invaluable. You fostered a sense of togetherness that made our team feel like a family. Wishing you all the best as you begin this next chapter of your journey.”
The entire board is grateful to Nicole for her years of dedicated service and her contributions to the growth and resilience of the company. “We wish her only the very best in her future endeavours and know that she will make an incredible success of any new venture.”
