GEORGE NEWS - Recently crowned the new Mrs Garden Route, Michelle van Eck from George is using her title to shine a light on an issue close to her heart by standing up for children who are victims of bullying.
Having experienced this herself, Van Eck is determined to be a voice for those who feel unheard and unseen.
"My journey to the crown was made even more special when pageant director Juanita Smit and the Mrs Garden Route organisation allowed my mother to crown me," said Van Eck. "It was an incredibly emotional moment that filled me with pride and gratitude."
Beyond her role as a title holder, she is a passionate entrepreneur who co-owns a dress rental business with her mother, Monique. "We help women of all shapes and sizes feel confident and beautiful," she said.
Michelle is also the proud owner of a photography company, Studio Jessebelle, at which she captures moments that tell stories of beauty, confidence and empowerment.
To her, Mrs Garden Route is proof that a crown is more than just a title - it's a platform to make a lasting impact.
"My mission is to show children they are never alone and that kindness can truly change a life," she said.
"Beyond raising awareness about bullying, I am deeply committed to uplifting my community through acts of service, empowerment projects and inspiring others to spread compassion.
"Together, we can create a kinder, stronger and more united community."
Michelle van Eck was crowned Mrs Garden Route 2026.
