GEORGE NEWS - Right across the globe, 48 000 Lions Clubs are in the process of electing new presidents to serve both their club and their community for the next 12 months.
In George, that process took place on Saturday 17 June with a combined president's induction ceremony that saw the induction of new club presidents for Eden Lions, George Lions and the Mossel Bay St Blaize Lions Club.
Andrea Rothner has been a dedicated Lion in the Eden Lions Club for 10 years and has now been given the chain of office to lead the team for the next 12 months.
The president of the Lions Club is a volunteer position that requires much dedication and commitment to the humanitarian causes that form the foundation of service that the Eden Lions Club was built on since its chartering in 2009.
Being a member of a Lions Club has many benefits and will allow a local community to not only join a community of people serving others, but also develops leadership qualities, gives access to a global support system and most importantly, allows a person to experience the euphoric feeling of helping someone else in need.
Anyone who wishes to join the membership of the Eden Lions Club, may contact Joyce on 063 329 8141.
The club also had the opportunity to thank immediate past President Joyce Kimari who handed over the reigns of president after a successful year of service.
