Ormerod (26) says he loves to walk around in his aunt's garden in Heatherpark, George and take photos of the miniature life existing among her vibrant assortment of flowers, while studying it.
"My aunt, Avril Mann has the most beautiful orchids, clivias, lilies and many more plants and flowers." It was November 2010 when he saw the frog inside the flower.
He eternalised it digitally, without knowing what special moments this special nature scene would hold for him.
Ormerod, a member of the George Camera Club, entered the 2012 Sunday Times Lifestyle/Green Life Photographer of the Year competition, where monthly winners are chosen, with an overall winner picked out of the twelve. He was chosen as the September winner and walked away with the cash prize. This was a great moment for him as a photographer, but little did he know that Father Christmas had something bigger in store for him.
One week before Christmas he received a phone call from the organisers of the competition, telling him to have a look in the newspaper to see if he was the winner. Ormerod checked and there was his photo taking up half a page with the word "Winner" in large letters printed on it.
As the 2012 Sunday Times Lifestyle/Green Life Photographer of the Year, Ormerod walked away with photographic equipment worth R51 000. It included an EOS SD Mark II DSLR, from Canon, as well as two Canon lenses.
In 2011 Ormerod's photo was one of the top 5 in the SA Camera Competition.

The winning photo taken by Scott Ormerod. A small Painted Reed Frog inside a One Day Lily.
