GEORGE NEWS - The police are following positive leads in the murder investigation of Prince Mmalo (32) who was gunned down late last month in his parked car in Zone 8, Thembalethu.
Southern Cape Police spokesperson, Captain Malcolm Pojie, said although no arrests have been made yet, the investigation is ongoing. "We have positive leads being followed by the police, however we also appeal to the community who might have information about this murder, to please come forward," he said.
Mmola was shot in the head multiple times while seated inside his Isuzu bakkie in Liwani Street, Thembalethu. When the police arrived on the scene, they found the deceased Mmola still in a sitting position behind the steering wheel.
"Witness reports suggest that the suspect, who was armed with a handgun, fired multiple shots through the windscreen of the bakkie," said Pojie. He said the perpetrator ran away and though chased by bystanders, escaped in a getaway car.
The motive of the murder has not been established.
Anyone who has information about the murder of Mmalo is asked to contact the Thembalethu Police Station on 044 802 8900 or Crime stop on 08600 10111.
