GEORGE NEWS - A 31-year-old man, Sicelo Sameul Sokaba is expected to appear for his formal bail application next Wednesday after he was arrested with 472kg of dagga in his posession on Thursday, 28 February.
According to Hawks spokesperson, Captain Philani Nkwalase, Sokaba was arrested on the N2 in Sedgefield on his way to George from the Eastern Cape.
The integrated operation was led by the Hawks and supported by crime intelligence, the Langeberg K9 and Eden Cluster Combating Team.
"Sokaba was driving a hired vehicle which was found loaded with about 472 kg dagga with an estimated street value of R900 500," said Nkwalase.
He appeared briefly at the Knysna Magistrate's Court on Monday and remains in custody pending his next appearance on the 13 March.
