GEORGE NEWS - The annual Gourmets & Gourmands Gala Evening, hosted by Carpe Diem School, will take place on Saturday 2 August.
Now in its 16th year, the event remains the school’s primary fundraiser, and this year’s is themed ‘Havana Nights’.
A launch event was held at The Apprentice in George on Friday 9 May, where the sponsors and representatives from participating restaurants gathered to begin preparations. The guests were treated to a salsa performance by a dance duo from Carpe Diem School, in keeping with the Cuban theme.
Carpe Diem School provides specialised education and care for over 400 learners with special needs, supported by 112 staff members. Proceeds from the gala are used to maintain and improve the school’s facilities and services.
Hartman & Sons continues its long-standing support as the event’s main sponsor for the 16th consecutive year.
This year’s culinary line-up includes contributions from many of the Garden Route’s top establishments, such as 101 Meade Street, Frankly Fresh, Garden Route Game Lodge, Il Giardino, Jakkalsvlei, Nina’s Café and Soete Nina’s, among others.
Tickets are limited, and the school encourages early bookings. For more information, contact Carpe Diem School on 044 874 4074.
