George's very own Garden Route Botanical Garden is well-placed to present such learning opportunities, and the staff are keen to share their expertise with students and the general public alike. WESSA can develop education programmes to support teachers across a range of subjects and themes.
The learners can enjoy hands-on learning which may incorporate games, plant dissection and microscope work as well as access to fresh plant specimens and information on the topic. The Moriarty Environmental Centre houses a botanical library as well as the Southern Cape Herbarium.

And, for the general public of all ages, there are opportunities to discover the local vegetation, learn about effective seasonal gardening, see the birds that have raised chicks, and learn more about water-wise gardening.
