GEORGE NEWS - It was a proud moment for Rupert Pretorius, chairperson of the George CPF, when it was awarded third place overall at the annual Provincial Prestige Excellence Awards for the 2024-2025 period. The awards ceremony took place in Cape Town on Saturday 17 January.
Pretorius commended the CPF committee, neighbourhood watch structures and all other role players for their exceptional teamwork and professionalism.
He noted that the Western Cape has 151 police stations and that the ratings were measured against standard CPF criteria. He said, however, what set George apart from its peers were the initiatives that are not always reflected in the formal assessment. These include joint operations with the police, investigative support, and the effective use of licence plate recognition (LPR) systems and CCTV.
Pretorius further said that the provincial police commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembisile Patekile, the Minister of Com-munity Safety, Anroux Marais, and the Provincial Head of CPFs, Fransina Lukas, along with several other officials, expressed their deep appreciation for the George CPF's efforts, which consistently go above and beyond expectations.
