GEORGE NEWS - The funeral service for Sinethemba Buda (24), the young man who was stabbed to death about two weeks ago in a popular tavern in Ramaphosa, Thembalethu, started this morning.
Buda died inside the tavern in Tabata Street at 02:45 on Sunday morning, 22 January, after he was stabbed several times.
Southern Cape police spokesperson Sgt Christ Spies said the circumstances surrounding the incident are still under investigation and the motive is unknown.
The funeral takes place at Life of Christ Christian Centre in Zone 8 Thembalethu.
On 31 December 2022, Anesipho Mtyukwini (24) was also stabbed to death on the premises. A 32-year-old woman was arrested in connection with this incident.
Serious concerns have been raised by residents who want the tavern closed.
A letter circulating on social media, indicated that strict security measures have been put in place following the latest incident. Whether these security measures have actually been activated, could not be confirmed.
