GEORGE NEWS - 16 Days of Activism kicks off on Sunday 25 November.
This is an international campaign that aims to raise awareness of violence and abuse against women and children and to permanently rid society of this type of abuse.
The period includes Universal Children's Day and World Aids Day.
South Africa adopted the campaign in 1998 as one of the intervention strategies towards creating a society free of violence. The campaign continues to raise awareness among South Africans about the negative impact violence against women and children has on all members of the community.
