GEORGE NEWS - Cupcakes of Hope collected R2 065 807 on their National Cupcake Day drive on 29 September, bettering last year's amount of R1,8-million.
Eden Meander hosted the George team who sold cupcakes this year.
Founder Sandy Cipriano said the amount collected will enable them to reach out to even more children with cancer. "Thank you to every single person who baked, decorated, volunteered and donated their time and energy towards making National Cupcake Day truly the sweetest day of the year."
The event was held across 79 malls in South Africa and involved thousands of bakers, or Cupcake Angels, who come together to 'bake' a difference in the lives of little cancer patients. Close to 200 000 cupcakes were pledged.
Funds raised will go towards the medical and other day-to-day needs of young cancer patients.
Cupcakes of Hope assists up to 70 patients every month, donating medical equipment to hospitals around the country.
