GEORGE NEWSFLASH - Local police, provincial and municipal traffic officials have closed off the taxi rank in the CBD.
They are currently performing a joint search operation in which vehicles are being checked for licensing, registration and roadworthiness and police are performing random spot checks on shops in the vicinity.
This operation forms part of Operation Lockdown that started at the Garden Route Mall, Pacaltsdorp and Thembalethu early this morning.
