GEORGE NEWS - An increase in fraud cases over the past couple of months has become a big concern for George police.
Readers are asked to be vigilant and mindful of this increase and to protect themselves by following these tips, says George police communications officer, Capt Nolonwabo Tshengu:
• The bank will never ask for account details, your password or Pin over the phone.
• Do not provide any internet banking security token verification codes over the phone.
• Do not log onto your online banking using public Wi-Fi.
• Do not trust an unexpected call from a service provider telling you there is something wrong with the system.
• Do not provide money upfront to receive more money or even a prize.
• Be mindful if what you are offered sounds too good to be true. If it sounds too good to be true, it normally is.
