GEORGE NEWS - In a collaborative effort between Legally You, Thuthuzela, Pacaltsdorp Police, and the Department of Constitutional Development and Justice, a pivotal awareness campaign tackling gender-based violence (GBV) took centre stage in New Dawn Park on 24 February.
During the event, Advocate Scheepers Olifant highlighted the importance of offering services for obtaining protection and harassment orders to the community.
Attendees were not only guided through the application process but also offered invaluable free legal counsel tailored towards addressing GBV and domestic violence.
Furthermore, comprehensive referrals were extended to ensure seamless connections with other stakeholders within the criminal justice system.
This initiative pledges ongoing support, extending beyond Pacaltsdorp to encompass the broader George area throughout the year.
Anticipating the upcoming GBV and domestic violence awareness event, complemented by the provision of free legal aid, the St Albans Anglican Church will be the next venue. The date still has to be confirmed.
Sgt Sergio Bowkers, Pacaltsdorp sector commander Sgt Magriet Jonkers, Mario Alaart of Hoogekraal Neighbourhood Watch, and WO Clifton Jantjies.
