GEORGE NEWS - The young Andivile Magamle's quest to spread awareness about illegal dumping made quite an impact on local businesswoman Yozeldé du Plessis, owner of Michelangelo Hair.
George Herald reported on Andivile's winning essay about illegal dumping in her neighbourhood, Zone 3 Thembalethu in last week's edition (7 October, p 9).
Du Plessis was so moved by the young girl's sense of social responsibility that she wanted to do something nice in return. "When I talked to her mother, Thembakazi, I learned that her 12th birthday was coming up," said Du Plessis.
Since Andivile still has her sights on becoming a hairdresser one day, the staff of Michelangelo Hair invited her over on Friday 15 October - her birthday - for an afternoon of treats.
