GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - Chain Gang Events will be hosting their annual Carne's Full Moon Beach Run this Sunday, 15 December.
This hugely popular race offers a 21km run and a shorter 6km run so that more people can enjoy the experience. The beach run, at night with low tide and full moon, has been such a success that many runners have added it to their bucket list.
The event is held in partnership with their official charity, Wilderness NSRI.
Registration and parking take place at the Wilderness village green from 17:00 to 19:00. The 21km runners start at Swartvlei beach and the 6km runners at Kleinkrantz.
Runners need to have all of their standard trail running hydration and safety equipment with them.
The 21km runners will pass Gericke's Point, the rocky landmark resembling a lion's head.
Thereafter runners will enjoy kilometres of mixed sand and rock shelves with the warm Benguela current on the left and the fossilised sandstone dunes towering on the right. Passing Kleinkrantz village - the starting point for the 6km runners - and a refreshment stop, runners will reach Flat Rock, before running the last few kilometres on sand to the finish at Wilderness NSRI.
Here they will be greeted with medals and refreshments, and an opportunity to share tales of this amazing experience with fellow runners and family.
