GEORGE NEWS - Two babies, a boy and a girl, were born at George Hospital on leap day, Saturday 29 February.
The baby boy was born to mom Zandiswa Sikateni and dad Eric Takayi at 03:26, weighing 4, 54kg.
"I would like to congratulate the new parents and share with them in their joy as new lives have been brought into this world on this very special day," said Western Cape Minister of Health, Dr Nomafrench Mbombo.
"We wish them the very best with the new additions to their families. May they live a long and healthy life. Remember that the first 1 000 days of a child's life are very important. Ensure that they are immunised and provide them with good nutrition and a safe environment."
In the Western Cape a total of 65 babies were born by 15:00 on leap day - 24 boys and 41 girls.
