GEORGE NEWS - All the meetings at U3A (University of the Third Age) this month will be in the Moths Shellhole hall in Rijk Tulbach Street.
On Monday 7 June, Case Rijsdijk will host another instalment in the International Affairs series where members of the audience are encouraged to discuss various aspects of current events. The meeting starts at 14:00.
On Wednesday 9 June, Peter and Thelma Mundell will take armchair travellers through the Rockies and on to the Hubbard glacier in Alaska. This will provide the opportunity to enjoy the purple-hued, snow-encrusted peaks, the sheer size of the mountain range and the clear water of the lake. The meeting starts at 10:30.
On Friday 18 June, Dr Tienie van Niekerk and Anel de Jager will discuss deafness and the various forms, causes and effects of this ailment. Van Niekerk has been in private (ENT) practice in George since 1992.
Anel de Jager gained a degree in Speech Therapy and Audiology in 2002. Tea is at 10:00 and the meeting starts at 10:30.
On Monday 21 June, the Digi club finishes off the first half of the year with a meeting highlighting architecture. This starts at 14:00.
U3A then takes a mid-year break and will resume late in July.
