GEORGE NEWS - A pipe burst in Fortuin Street in Blanco that had residents up in arms because they were without water, did receive attention soon after it was reported to the complaints department of Civil Engineering Services.
This is according to the engineering director, Reginald Wesso.
He said the complaint was first reported at 08:25 on Wednesday 17 January.
According to Wesso, a lack of tap water residents had experienced since Sunday did not relate to the Fortuin Street pipe burst.
"Only one repair team was available at the time, as the other team had worked until 04:00 on a pipe burst in Adderley and Birch Street.
"The Fortuin Street complaint received attention as soon as possible after it was reported, before the newspaper query reached the municipality.
"The municipality asks that the public report pipe bursts and leaks as soon as they notice them on 044 801 9262/9266," said Wesso.
