GEORGE NEWS - Glenwood water polo athletes will brave the freezing Vic Bay water to raise awareness about local animals in need on Saturday 28 July at 10:00 at the dotsure.co.za Polar Bear Plunge.
The Garden Route SPCA is honoured to have been chosen as the team's beneficiary and it is hoped that Glenwood learners and SPCA supporters will attend the land-based festivities in their droves.
Asked by the organisers to be loud, colourful and show as much spirit as possible, the teams will compete for top spot as the public will vote for their favourite charity and team, based on the spirit of the supporters as well as their dress theme and numbers.
The prize is R20 000, so animal enthusiasts are urged to come along and help the SPCA win. The GR SPCA's education unit will be hosting a table from which they will be selling small gifts and giving out animal-related information. Nero, the GR SPCA's mascot pit bull, will be pulling out the stops to entertain the crowd!
"We need all the supporters we can get that day on the beachfront so they can vote for us, making our chance of winning bigger," urges SPCA Education Unit head, Gerda Reynders.
