GEORGE NEWS - Notice has been received from the George Municipality of a burst watermain supply pipe affecting several areas in George.

According to the notice:

Following a burst watermain supply pipe yesterday there are several areas in the CBD that either have no water or very low water pressure. 

The burst occurred in Camphersdrift, Sandy McGregor Road on a 1000mm pipe which serves the CBD, Airport and Herold’s Bay. 

The Civil Engineering Department has sourced fittings and commenced with repair work but it is expected to take most of the day and at this point no estimated time can be given for completion. This means that certain areas will towards the latter end of the day have no water at all.

Water trucks have been placed in York Street, near EM Coetzee Pharmacy; Meade Street and Varing Avenue. Other trucks will be circulating.

Please do not phone our in to our Civils Call Centre regarding low water pressure as we are aware of the problem and working to resolve.
