GEORGE NEWS - At the general meeting of U3A at Emmaüs on Wednesday 29 May, Phillip Rosser and Phillip Kuschke will give a talk on 'The Car of the Century - restored to its former glory'.
Henry Ford said, "I will build a car for the multitude. It will be so low in price that no man will be unable to own one."
The real success from this idea was the Model T Fords, which were produced between 1908 and 1927.
The two local vintage car enthusiasts have lovingly restored five Model Ts and will bring two of these cars to Emmaüs to talk about the history of the Model T and explain why they are so fascinated with renovating them.
Phillip Kuschke is a teacher at Glenwood House and a committee member of the Southern Cape Old Car Club.
Phillip Rosser is a retired microbiologist and is the champion of the Southern Cape Chapter of the Model T Ford Club of South Africa.
Come along to listen to the fascinating talk and view the two splendid cars. Tea is at 10:00 and the talk starts at 10:30. Entrance is R5 for members and R10 for visitors.
