GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - With Easter weekend coming up, many people have been asking why no preparations are being made for the Sedgefield Slow Festival, which is held annually over this weekend.
The Slow Festival team regrets being unable to present the event this year due to financial constraints.
It was with heavy hearts that the volunteer team, who have been putting together the festival for the last eight years, made the decision that they could not convene a Slow Festival 2018 without a corporate sponsor.
They nevertheless welcome all visitors to Sedgefield and wish them, and all locals, a very happy Easter. Up to now, the festival was run by a team of dedicated volunteers operating on a shoestring budget.
With all the stress and worry that it entails, the team decided they needed to put the festival on hold and concentrate on finding a sponsor who will hopefully enable them to bring the much-loved festival back to town in 2019.
"In the meantime, we are not resting on our laurels and regularly meet to brainstorm new, fresh ideas and ways to make the next festival bigger, better and more financially viable," said festival organiser Amanda Dixon.
"It is our sincere hope that a sponsor will be secured and that we will be back in 2019 to once again provide locals and visitors with an Easter weekend filled with the events and entertainment the Slow Festival has become renowned for."
