Kerrin Titmas, former manager of Fancourt and a representative of the Plattner family, Ryan O’Connor, KFM presenter, and Sue Du Toit, director of George Child Wellfare, officially marked the opening of the safe house by cutting the ribbon.
The safe house was opened to ensure young children in the George community have the option to be a part of a safe and caring environment.
The safe house is run by the House Mother, Gloria Harker.
Ryan O’Connor describes the safe house as more of a "safe home”.
The safe house is located at the former Jireh House in Montague Street, Blanco. Jireh House was bought with money collected by a KFM radio telethon in 2004 where local resident Denise Fraser's idea to have a home for children infected and affected by HIV/Aids became a reality.
