GEORGE NEWS - Acknowledgement was given on Thursday afternoon to three local restaurants for their recycling efforts. The restaurants that received the awards were Salina's in Wilderness, the Kaaimans restaurant and the Old Townhouse.
Awareness of recycling among local restaurants grew after the owner of Salina’s Beach restaurant, Massimo Mariotti, started recycling at Salina’s in 2013.
The event was organised by the Landmark Foundation and Wessa with the support of the George Municipality.
Among the attendees were representatives of the Landmark Foundation, Wessa, George Deputy Mayor Charlotte Clarke, Councillor Erica Brown, members of the George Municipal Council and officials of the George Municipality.
Clarke welcomed the involvement of businesses in such initiatives and especially the three restaurants. She said it is something positive and George can benefit from it in the future.
