GEORGE NEWS - Environmental Educators from the George Municipal Environmental Section recently held puppet shows at Hibernia Primary and Tyholorha Primary School to inform and educate young children on the principles of recycling.
The educators spoke to the children in English, Afrikaans and Xhosa and use hand puppets to entertain and challenge the young minds.
Ms Grace Notshokovu, who manages the educator group, said that the children were educated on what materials can be recycled and how they should go about it. They told the children why it is bad to dump rubbish and how it affects our environment.
Notshokovu says by the end of the sessions they hoped that the children, including their teachers and parents, would be encouraged to recycle and not dump illegally.
The children each received a goodie bag with a water bottle, information leaflets and a snack. The Environmental Educators with the children from Hibernia Primary are at the back from left, Thembakazi Adam, Iviwe Maboza, Maruwayne Williams and Babalo Counter.
