GEORGE NEWS - George is currently on Section 2B water restrictions as part of the George Municipal Water Conservation / Water Demand Management (WC/WDM) strategy.
A concerned citizen questioned this status, wanting to know why water restrictions are still being imposed.
The person asked whether the cost per unit of water escalates during this level, and queried the municipality's application of such funds.
Municipal spokesperson Chantel Edwards-Klose responded that the current Section 2B restrictions have no financial effect on consumers, but encourages the use of less water.
"The current water restrictions are a part of the WC/WDM strategy, which ultimately has an effect on long-term planning for bulk infrastructure. The drought disaster declaration for the Western Cape remains in effect," she said.
