GEORGE NEWS FLASH - A well-known Georgian (44) who was arrested last week on a charge of sexual assault appeared in the George Magistrate’s Court yesterday afternoon for a formal bail application.
The bail proceedings were postponed to Friday 24 April for arguments when Magistrate N Malaudzi is also expected to give judgement on the bail application. The suspect remains in custody.
The man, who may not be identified because he has not pleaded, was arrested last Friday morning. It is alleged that the man, who now lives in Herold’s Bay, sexually assaulted a 13-year-old boy on 11 April between 20:00 and 21:30 during a sleepover at the suspect’s house. The victim is a friend of the suspect’s teenage son.
According to Captain Bernadine Steyn, Southern Cape Police spokesperson, the victim visited the suspect’s house in Herold’s Bay and went to sleep in the guest bedroom. The suspect entered his room and allegedly pulled down the victim’s pants and touched his private parts.
