GEORGE NEWS - George motorbike riders are invited to be part of a world record attempt by taking part in a mass ride to Storms River on Saturday 24 February.
A minimum of 4 500 motorbikes is required to ride in staggered formation for 50km from Caltex Mentors Plaza near Jeffrey's Bay to Storms River.
This attempt is part of Ride for a Child, a charity motorbike ride in South Africa starting on 11 February with Dr Andre Hattingh, retired neurosurgeon.
The ride will cover 7 000km and the aim is to raise funds for surgeries and medical treatment for underprivileged children.
The ride will visit the most Northern, Western, Eastern, and Southern parts of South Africa.
The organisers are aiming to establish the world record and in so doing, raise awareness for Pediatric Care Africa.
The event will be screened on TV, and participants are encouraged to join from both the West and East along the N2 highway.
The final destination is Mentors Country Estate in Jeffrey's Bay, where a weekend-long festival, discounted accommodations, and special badges will be available.
A participating fee of R100 for riders and R50 for pillions is requested, with funds going directly to children's medical care and surgeries.
Interested participants can contact Mandy at 072 034 0544 or the office at info@pediatriccareafrica.org for more information on how to participate in the event.
