GEORGE NEWS - The George Lions Potjiekos Competition and Market, hosted on 5 November, was a grand success. 

Murky weather couldn't stop the festive spirit and the community enjoyed steaming coffee and hot chocolate, wholesome food, and the offerings of the market stalls and boot sale. 

Children had great fun being lifted off in the Rocket Ride and enjoyed face-painting, too. 

For the main event, teams of four participated in a gourmet potjie cook-off for the title of Lions Potjie Master 2022. 

After stiff competition, the prize winners were announced to be Mexikans, EdenLions and Kommaweer.

Additionally, Mariska Nel was declared Mev Potjie, with Mnr Potjie being Kobus van Biljon. 

All in all, the annual competition made for an enjoyable, festive fundraiser.
