GEORGE NEWS - Leap day for frogs on 28 February is one day of the year when ordinary South Africans can take a leap of action and do something to appreciate and protect one of the most threatened group of animals on Earth: Frogs!
These important creatures are disappearing all over the planet largely because of habitat destruction.
The Garden Route Botanical Garden has registered its event this year with the EWT (Endangered Wildlife Trust) – Treated Amphibian Program (TAP) and is proud to be involved in this national event.
Activities at the Gardens
Schools will be invited to bring their learners during the day, from 15:00 to take a guided stroll through the gardens to identify frog breeding spots and witness threats or opportunities at these spots for successful breeding of frogs.
Later at 18:00 further fun activities such as froggy bingo and frog model folding will be held for anybody to attend with a talk on frogs at 20:00.
All this will be culminating in an organised froggy search ending at about 22:00.
