GEORGE NEWS - The commotion at the Tommy Joubert Building in Courtenay Street around 08:00 this morning was nothing to be worried about.
Workers saw smoke coming out of an air-vent in the building and immediately contacted the fire brigade.
They were on the scene within minutes to assess the problem. The shift leader told George Herald that they had to break a door to get access to the educational training centre.
They determined that the smoke was caused by one of the canisters that hold the fluorescent lights, which had melted.
“We switched off the electricity to check it out, and luckily nothing else was damaged.”
He said that there was no other damage to the building.
