GEORGE NEWS - To make a commitment and understand what it is about, is part of being an adult.
This is what Jaimee Kowen (13) from Cape Town recently learned at her bat mitzvah.
As part of her coming of age ceremony, Jaimee made the commitment to donate part of what she was gifted with to charity.
Because she and her family spend a significant amount of time in George at their house in Fancourt, Jaimee decided to donate a percentage of her money to the Garden Route SPCA.
Jaimee, her brother Jarred (11) and mom Lisa visited the Garden Route SPCA last week Thursday. Salome Bruyns of the SPCA gave them the grand tour of the kennels and explained what they do at the SPCA.
Jaimee and Jarred were absolutely taken with the puppies and learned how the dogs, cats and other animals are taken care of.
