The paper is flying two of Elvis’ Life Community Services guitar students up to Johannesburg to see their hero perform live in the Top 2 Spectacular of Idols Season 6 at the Mosaïek Teatro in Johannesburg tomorrow night.
Everyone at Life and at the George Herald waited with pounding hearts and bated breath for the announcement on Tuesday night. Local supporters’ joy knew no bounds when Elvis made it through.
The 30-year-old Elvis will be up against a tough competitor in the final, the 28-year-old Lloyd Cele after the much younger Sindi Nene (22) was sent home. While Sindi bravely performed her farewell song encouraging the audience to sing along, Elvis was seen wiping away the tears.
Group Editors operations director, Nicole Moolman broke the news of their impending trip to 13-year-old Lizel Meswatie and 14-year-old Quven Telman at their homes in Parkdene in George.
At first they were dumbstruck, but as the reality of the news set in they could not wait to share the news with family and friends. Both are first time flyers and have never seen the bright city lights of Jo’burg.
Journalists, Michelle Pienaar and Ilse Schoonraad will be there to hold their hands and to share all the glamour and excitement with the readers in the next edition of the George Herald.
This is our last time to ensure that Elvis Blue, our very own Jan Hoogendyk, returns home wearing the Idols crown. Unlike other weeks the voting lines have already opened and will only close on Monday night at 22:00.
To vote for Elvis, SMS 10 to 37400, or call 086 22 777 10 from your Telkom landline, or 083 901 0210 from your cellphone, or vote for Elvis on MXit.
And keep your eyes peeled on Sunday night during the final sing off broadcast on MNet - you may just see some star struck locals giving it up for Elvis!
