GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - The Eden Karoo Expo for Young Scientists team jump-started the year by hosting an educators' workshop at Inkcubeko Youth Centre on 31 January and 1 February.
It was presented in conjunction with the D-school division at UCT and gave valuable insight into a new creative way of tackling all thinking processes.
The aim is to enable learners to use a better thinking process when doing research for projects.
Educators had to build small projects within a limited time frame, and discuss their projects with the other groups. The question "why" brought about new meaning and understanding.
During February and April, several workshops 1 and 2 will be held across the region to assist both learners and educators, using the same thinking methods.
These workshops assist learners through the process, from finding a topic selected from 13 expo categories, to reaching the standard required at the regional competition in August.
Workshop dates and deadlines for registration can be viewed on the Eden Karoo Expo for Young Scientists Facebook page and all are invited to follow them on Instagram or Twitter.
Please contact Sonet (Eden admin) via puffels@telkomsa.net should you require further information on the planned events or if you can assist in any way with regard to gifts, prizes and judging.
