GEORGE NEWS - One of the suspects involved in a business robbery in Smutsville, Sedgefield last night, Wednesday 5 April, was caught in Thembalethu shortly after the incident.
The other two suspects are still at large.
According to Southern Cape police spokesperson Sgt Chris Spies, Knysna detectives are investigating the incident that took place in Luthango Street at about 21:10.
"It is alleged that three men arrived at the spaza shop and requested assistance. The shopkeeper approached the trio when one of them threatened him with a firearm. The suspects forced themselves into the shop and took various items including a cellphone and an undisclosed amount of cash. They fled the scene in a white Datsun."
Spies said the victim alerted the police. "A vehicle chase ensued and the vehicle was brought to a halt in Thembalethu, George. One suspect was arrested and some of the stolen items recovered."
The suspect (31) remains in police custody. He will appear in court once charged.
