GEORGE NEWS - Georgians have reason to feel incredibly proud of their beautiful city. Not only is George a finalist for "Best Dorpie" in Kfm 94.5 radio station's Best of the Cape Awards, but three local businesses also made it through to the finalists in their respective categories: Redberry Farm (Best Tourist Attraction), The Marshmallow Garden Café (Best Pet-friendly Restaurant) and Views Boutique Hotel and Spa (Best Hotel).
Five finalists for each of the 30 categories available (under six main headings) were announced throughout the day on Monday 25 July.
The initiative is run in celebration of the Western Cape, "this beautiful place we call home," reads the description on Kfm's website.
George's sister town, Knysna, also made the top five in the "Best Dorpie" category, placing the Southern Cape in the top seat as a favourite destination for many travellers. The other three nominees are Langebaan, Montagu and Robertson.
Chef Simz of The Marshmallow Garden Café said, "We are very proud of the journey we have taken with not only the customers, but our team." Ansuné Louw of Redberry Farm said it is an honour to be nominated for this award.
