SOUTHERN CAPE NEWS - Tragedy struck the informal settlement in Uniondale on Saturday 23 December when a fire swept through a shack.
Brixton November and his 3-year-old daughter Valerie Jacobs died in the blaze.
A horrified neighbour Ruchiano Olyn said the fire started at around 23:00.
“The fire brigade did arrive on the scene but the damage was unfortunately already done.”
Brixton November’s wife Saartjie was taken to the Uniondale hospital by Cllr Jacques Esau and his cousin, Edwin, ferried the badly burnt Valerie.
The two were transferred by ambulance to the George Hospital where baby Valerie died from her burns.
Saartjie is still in the George hospital in a stable condition.
Esau said he will be meeting with the police to establish the cause of the fire.
