GEORGE NEWS - Heatherlands High School produced an 84.1% pass rate this year, improving on last year's 78.6%.
Of the 82 learners who wrote the exams, the top three learners are Kauther Dreyer, Skyla Ackerman and Keeno Willemse.
The 82 matrics were divided into three classes of which two were Afrikaans and the third English.
All matrics had to stay in the hostel from September until the end of their school year. This was done by the school without any financial assistance - and the results show.
"It was a long, hard year, but all the hard work from the teachers and learners paid off," said headmaster Salomo Moses. "The school is still young but we are going from strength to strength."
This year, 140 matric learners will attend the school - nearly double the number of last year.
