ELECTION NEWS AND VIDEO - Deputy Federal Council Chairperson of the Democratic Alliance, Dr Ivan Meyer said the DA's new Premier, Alan Winde and his provincial government will be able to govern with an outright majority.
"There will be no need for partners, but that means that we will govern with humility," he said.
He thanked the voters of especially the Southern Cape for their continued support, as well as the party leadership for their sterling work in motivating voters to participate in the election.
Meyer said in the Karoo voters expressed a disillusionment with the Karoo parties, which is clearly why the Karoo towns of Laingsburg and Prince Albert consolidated their support for the DA.
"The voters clearly passed a motion of No Confidence in the smaller parties, such as the Karoo specific parties, and chose to support the DA."
Meyer said the DA nevertheless supports a multi-party democracy.
