ELECTIONS NEWS AND VIDEO - Early indications from provisional figures are that the Freedom Front Plus and ACDP may have scored on the national vote from disgruntled DA members who nevertheless still voted for their party on the provincial ticket.
Figures are slowly trickling into the Electoral Commission Results Centre. Western Cape provincial electoral officer Courtney Sampson warns that provisional figures still have to be audited.
However, in the Southern Cape, it seems as if the Democratic Alliance have retained much of their support. DA support in the region is Bitou (71.56%), George (68.43%), Hessequa (50.77%), Knysna (44%), Mossel Bay (54%), Oudtshoorn( 48.7%), and Prince Albert (57%).
The exception to the above is Kannaland, where Icosa seems to have maintained favour with voters, and the DA polled at 38.9%.
Predictions are that the EFF has not made the inroads it may have wanted into the Southern Cape. These figures are, however bound to change as more definitive results are received.
