GEORGE NEWS - A woman, Nyaradzo Ellen Gwenzi (39), who was arrested on charges of human trafficking, appeared in the George Magistrate's Court earlier today, Thursday 30 May.
The case was postponed to Thursday 13 June for a formal bail application.
Gwenzi was arrested at a known brothel in George after an assault complaint was registered with the police.
According to Hawks spokesperson Lt Col Siyabulela Vukubi, the Hawks established that the victim who was allegedly assaulted, was also being held against her own free will by the suspect.
"They immediately went after the suspect and arrested her, investigation continues," he said.
The victim was taken to George Hospital for medical examination and thereafter taken to a place of safety.
Whether Gwenzi is linked to two other women who were also arrested in George on charges of human trafficking and sexual offences, still has to be determined.
