GEORGE NEWS - A man from a farm near Kleinkrantz (72) was robbed and assaulted by two suspects at his home yesterday morning, Monday 18 November at about 07:00.
The victim, who lives at Paradise 4x4 and Paragliding farm, the furthest Western point of Paradise Ridge near the Kleinkrantz water treatment works, was on his way to pick up staff when he was attacked from behind, while he was opening his gate.
"I was opening the gate at the bottom when he came from behind and hit me on the head with a pick handle.
"Luckily I got up and managed to get the handle off him and hit him a few times," the victim said.
A second suspect, allegedly a woman, then appeared and threw a concrete block at the victim. The suspects made off with a firearm, a bag with the victim's belongings, licences and cash.
The victim sustained injuries to his head and cuts and bruises to his body.
A woman was later apprehended by the Wilderness Defence Force and handed over to the police. She was however released from custody the same day. The other suspect is still on foot.
