GEORGE NEWS - The Garden Route SPCA (GRSPCA) is appealing to the public for help after 11 cattle were stolen from their premises in George last night, Wednesday 6 August.
"The theft was discovered thanks to the sharp instincts of a night-shift staff member," reads a GRSPCA Facebook post.
When he heard one of the donkeys braying unusually, he immediately suspected something was wrong and went outside to investigate. It was then that he realised the cattle, goats, and donkeys were missing from their enclosure.
The staff member managed to herd five goats and six donkeys safely back into the large animal pound in the dark.
Unfortunately, despite his efforts, all 11 cattle were stolen.
A closer inspection revealed that the lock on the gate had been cut. These cattle had only recently been brought in by law enforcement on Tuesday 5 August.
The GRSPCA urgently requests anyone who sees these cattle roaming in the area or has information about this incident to come forward.
If you have any information that could help recover the stolen cattle, please contact the SPCA immediately at 044 878 1990.
Your assistance is greatly appreciated as the organisation works to bring these animals back to safety.
