Update
GEORGE NEWS - A 40-year-old woman has been arrested and was later released on bail in connection with the death of Kristen-Lee Bredenkamp (30).
Bredenkamp was killed in a car crash on Nelson Mandela Boulevard in the early hours of Monday 28 July.
Babalwa Soldaat appeared in the Thembalethu Magistrate’s Court on Thursday 7 August, facing a charge of culpable homicide. She was subsequently released on bail of R5 000 and the matter was postponed to 1 October for further police investigation.
Bredenkamp died after her white Volkswagen Polo and a black Toyota Fortuner collided just after midnight, between the TotalEnergies service station and Boeta’s Corner in the direction of Thembalethu. The Fortuner driver, who police confirmed was Soldaat, was seriously injured and treated in hospital.
Southern Cape police spokesperson Sergeant Chris Spies said emergency services found Bredenkamp with multiple injuries at the scene. She was rushed to hospital but later pronounced dead. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
