GEORGE NEWS - A state-of-the-art facility with a homely feeling, outside of hospital and on ground floor level. WESP Radiology recognised the need for such a centre, as expressed by patients who didn't want to expose themselves during the pandemic.
The outpatient centre provides world-class diagnostic imaging in a welcoming space and is conveniently located on the corner of York Street and Gloucester Avenue, a few meters from Mediclinic George's front entrance.
"It feels like home, with direct access from the street. We wanted to offer a different experience to patients. It is also very private," said Mikael Coquiller, newly appointed practice manager at WESP Radiology.
The Frenchman and his South African family settled in George, which he describes as one of the most beautiful places to live and now calls home.
According to Dr Werner Spies, who has been a radiologist at WESP radiology for 19 years, "this facility is a new chapter in delivering outstanding services to patients and referring doctors".
The outpatient centre provides X-rays, ultrasound, bone density and mammograms with 3D tomography.

One of the WESP radiologists is located on site. Dr Lourens Erasmus, radiologist at WESP radiology, is very excited about the new centre and the value it will add to the medical service in George.
The newly acquired mammography equipment is state of the art, with all the latest functions and capabilities to improve early breast cancer detection and diagnosis.
October is breast cancer awareness month and patients should remember to book their screening mammogram. The mammography results are given immediately after the examination. Regular breast cancer screening is crucial after the age of 40.
