GEORGE NEWS - La Capannina Restaurant is celebrating its 15th year of existence and there is much to rejoice about.
This establishment comes highly recommended on Trip Advisor and continues to enjoy the support of its loyal clientele.
On Facebook, regular diners compliment their favourite restaurant for great food, good service and excellent prices.
This is great encouragement for owner Margi Ciapparelli, her life partner Tony Kaleb and the diligent, long-serving staff.
After her husband, Chips, passed away, Margi has been carrying on the restaurant's proud dining traditions and hospitality with passion and a sense of vocation.
The menu is a collection of delicious, festive Mediterranean and local recipes.
The down-to-earth comfort food has earned the unwavering support of the Thursday senior clubs when the R55 special offer is a drawcard.
But this great restaurant offers superb pasta, steaks and seafood.
A dizzying choice of pizza dripping with cheese brings diners back time and again.
The crispy pizza base introduced by Chips 15 years ago is still lovingly hand-rolled daily, but the variety of toppings has grown to an impressive list catering for all tastes.
Diners have made favourable remarks about La Capannina's romantic and cultivated ambience.
Connie Mahlanyana, La Capannina's expert pizza maker, has been with the restaurant for fifteen years and is hailed as an absolute star.
But besides intimate tête-à-têtes, La Capannina is also the place to celebrate special occasions like birthdays and anniversaries.
It also caters for functions - be they business year-end functions or other special occasions, the restaurant can seat up to 104 people.
Menu
While a new a-la-carte menu has been introduced with many tantalising dishes to choose from, it is the signature dish, lamb shank, that continues to elicit praise.
The east-coast sole and the crème brûlée are other favourites that take pride of place on the menu.
Quality
The kitchen manager ensures that the food quality is consistently good, while front of house management and the team of well-trained waiters ensure good service.
Crisp and fresh
Margi Ciapparelli is a stickler for using fresh ingredients and believes in supporting local suppliers who help to keep the direct chain from the producer to the table going.
Lunch specials
The creative juices are always flowing as the chefs think up specials for the Monday to Friday lunch hour.
The juicy, flavoursome lamb shank remains at the top of La Cappannina's list of hot favourites.
Trading times
Trading hours are from Monday to Friday, 12:00 to 14:30 and 17:30 to 21:30; and Saturdays from 18:00 to 21:30.
